After throwing and trimming the initial form, I utilize an inlay technique to make the illustrations. I apply a base color of underglaze and a layer of wax on top of that. Then, I scratch my design through both layers back to the stoneware underneath. In those marks I apply other colors of underglaze, creating contrast and making the illustrations pop. As a finishing touch, I apply gold luster.
